The Young Guns Fast Bowlers Camp 2024 is underway

The Centre for Excellence in Pretoria is buzzing with excitement as it hosts this week’s Cricket South Africa (CSA) Young Guns Fast Bowlers Camp.

This dynamic camp is a fresh initiative under the CSA Pace Bowlers Programme, designed to provide high-performance support to young fast bowlers aged 16 to 20.

Twelve promising pacemen, capable of bowling over 140 km/h, will hone their skills under the guidance of Proteas Test bowling coach Piet Botha, with support from SA U19 and Emerging Academy head coach Malibongwe Maketa.

Grant van Velden, Head of High Performance, emphasized, “Fast bowling is ingrained in South African cricket’s DNA. It’s crucial for Cricket South Africa to invest in our next generation of fast bowling talent, helping them develop technically, tactically, and physically.”

Young cricketers from across the country can join the programme at 16 and continue until they turn 20, after which they’ll officially graduate from the programme.
